Quick Tour
This page walks through one full end-to-end task: taking a fresh image, putting it on screen, and confirming it played. If you have not yet read Getting Started, do that first.
The example uses a fictional cafe in Saratoga Springs, NY, but the steps apply to any OTS Signs account.
What you will do
Section titled “What you will do”- Upload a piece of media to the Library.
- Drop it into a Layout.
- Publish the layout.
- Schedule it to a display.
- Confirm the player picked it up.
- Find it in Proof of Play.
You need at least one display already paired with the system. If you have no displays yet, see Adding a Display first.
1. Upload media
Section titled “1. Upload media”- In the sidebar, click Library.
- Click Upload in the page header.
- Drag a JPG, PNG, MP4, or PDF onto the drop zone, or pick files from your computer.
- Wait for each row to reach 100%, then click Done.
The file appears in the Library list with a thumbnail and useful details, such as video duration or PDF page count. See Library for the full list of supported file types and limits.
2. Build a layout
Section titled “2. Build a layout”- In the sidebar, click Layouts, then click the + button in the page header (tooltip: New Layout).
- Give the layout a name (e.g. Saratoga Cafe — Lunch Promo).
- Pick a resolution that matches your displays.
- Click Create Layout, then open the new layout to enter the editor.
- From the right-hand panel, drag your media file onto the canvas. Resize and position it as needed.
- Set the region’s duration (how long this content plays before moving on).
- Click Publish to make this version live.
See Layouts for regions, transitions, and widget types.
3. Schedule it
Section titled “3. Schedule it”- In the sidebar, click Schedules, then click the + button (tooltip: New Schedule).
- Set:
- Layout / Campaign: pick the layout you just published.
- Display or Display Group: pick at least one target.
- Start / End: when this content is allowed to play. Leave the end blank to schedule indefinitely.
- Days / Time Window: optional — restrict to certain days or use a saved Time Window such as Lunch.
- Priority: toggle on to push this schedule above standard schedules during overlaps. The default (off) is fine for a single schedule.
- Click Create Schedule.
The schedule is delivered to the player on its next sync. Most players check in every 60–300 seconds.
4. Watch it land on the display
Section titled “4. Watch it land on the display”- Open Displays and click the row for the display you targeted.
- Look at the Last Accessed time — it should be within the last few minutes if the player is online.
- The Currently Playing field updates to show the layout once the player picks up the new schedule.
If the display does not pick up the schedule within a few minutes, see Troubleshooting.
5. Confirm playback in Proof of Play
Section titled “5. Confirm playback in Proof of Play”After the layout has played at least once:
- In the sidebar, click Reports.
- Open the Proof of Play report.
- Pick a time range that covers when the content played.
- Filter by Display or Media to narrow the result.
- Each row is one play event with a timestamp and duration.
See Reports for full filtering options and exports.
